Tommy’s Natural Foods Market & Wine Shop is known internationally for its beef and wild American seafood. It is the only market in the area licensed to carry Certified Angus Beef. The seafood department features fresh and steamed wild American shrimp, wild Alaskan salmon, dry-packed scallops (no preservatives here), clams, Alaskan crab legs, tuna and crab cakes – so good that even the folks from Maryland take them home. Carrying more than 400 local and North Carolina-made products as well as many that support global initiatives, Tommy's owners have adopted the slogan "A small town grocery with a global conscience." On Tuesdays from May through September, you can sip and sample your way through the store, tasting international, regional and local foods, wines and microbrews plus sauces, snacks, jams, jellies, cheeses and coffee – it's all free from 2 to 6 p.m.
