On Ocracoke Island the Howard family is well-known for owning Village Craftsmen, the much-loved craft gallery they have been operating on Howard Street for more than 50 years. Showcasing Ocracoke-inspired fine art and crafts is a passion for gallery founder Philip Howard and his daughter, Amy, who now runs the business.

The tradition of Dare Nights continues at The Lost Colony! May 30-May 31st, 2024, local residents get free admission.

Residents from Dare, Tyrrell, Currituck, and Hyde counties can attend The Lost Colony for free with the donation of 3 canned foods or non-perishable food items per person. Residents can use their zipcode when reserving seats online.

Dare Nights, sponsored by Midgett Insurance, is also open to the general public.
