➜ 1920s - Construction begins for Edward Collings Knight, Jr.'s new house
➜ 1940s - During WWII the building served as a residence and bunker for the U.S. Coastguard
➜ 1959-62 - Operated as the Corolla School for Boys
➜ 1960s - Rocket fuel test site under Atlantic Research Corp.
➜ 1969 - Property is sold to investors
➜ 1992 - Currituck County purchases the property
➜ 2002 - Restoration is completed and the Historic Whalehead Club was brought back to its former grandeur
