Family-Friendly Wild Horse Adventure

Corolla Wild Horse Tours

Our knowledgeable guides have the ability to talk to you while on the tour. This will give you the chance to learn both area history plus details of the Corolla Wild Horse story. Please ask them lots of questions and keep them honest! The tours take two hours and will cover 25 miles of off road cruising. We will take you behind the dunes into the neighborhoods where the horses graze. The horses have 7,500 acres to roam and are in small harems that will have 3-6 horses per grouping. Generally we see the horses out grazing or cooling off by the water.

4X4 Beach Wild Horse Tours

Corolla Wild Horse Tours

Descendants of the original colonial Spanish Mustangs, the Corolla Wild Horses have 7,500 pristine acres to roam on the 4x4 only beaches north of Corolla and you can now just sit back comfortably to witness their majesty. The Corolla Wild Horses have graced our beloved shores since the first Europeans landed in the 1500s. Arriving with the initial Spanish explorations in an area believed to be near present day Sandbridge, VA, they were "pushed off the boat" and then subsequently abandoned.

4X4 Kayak Adventure

Coastal Explorations

Looking to kayak and see wild horses? This tour combines both experiences into one trip. We’ll take you by vehicle to our launch site in a wild horse sanctuary where we will then slip into kayaks and explore the sound. (2-2.5 hours, 7 passenger max)

Kids' Kayak Tour

Coastal Explorations

These tours are family friendly but tailored for kids with an emphasis on fun, hands-on learning. We give kids dip nets to allow them to sweep through grass beds in search of small water critters like shrimp or minnows. Our guide also uses cast nets and crab pots to pull in other catches! These tours are shorter in both time and distance than our traditional tours. We'll get you and your kids into double kayaks and take time to paddle and play as we make stops along the shoreline and small islands. (1 hour)

Boat Tours

Coastal Explorations

GUIDED TOUR: After vacationing at the beach for many years, you're probably curious about what's on the other side. Take a relaxing boat tour and see the sounds and marshes that make out area so unique! Aboard a boat, you have a unique view of the Whalehead Club and Currituck Beach Lighthouse from the water. Next, you can travel to Monkey Island to see nesting wading birds and the ruins of the old Monkey Island Hunt Club. If you'd like to stay out longer, we can always find more things to do on the Currituck Sound! (6 passenger max)

Monkey Island Kayak Tour

Coastal Explorations

Monkey Island is one of the most isolated and storied locations on the Outer Banks! Join us on a paddle trip as we explore the waters around the island. Once out there, you'll have the chance to hear some local history about the island and also to view the thousands of roosting wading birds and ospreys that call the island their home in the summer. Paddle time is 3 to 4 hours, depending on weather. We'll take a few breaks on the trip and take some time for some snacks (provided). This trip is for experienced paddlers only and reservations are required.
