Virginia Dare Night
Every season of The Lost Colony commemorates the birthday of Virginia Dare, the first English child born in the New World to colonist Eleanor Dare on August 18, 1587. The Lost Colony continues its long celebrated tradition of using real babies during the Dare Night performance.

The Lost Colony outdoor drama is the “grandfather” of all outdoor dramas and is produced by the Roanoke Island Historical Association (RIHA), a non-profit whose mission is to celebrate the history of the first English colonies on Roanoke Island, North Carolina, and to honor the founders of The Lost Colony symphonic drama through drama, education, and literature.
The Enchanted Garden
Enter the Fairy Realm. Can you find the enchanted world hidden in our gardens? Using a newly discovered map, young adventurers will have the key to locating 12 enchanted spirits where they reside in The Elizabethan Gardens. A mobile device enhances the experience. And if you have fairy dust on hand, sprinkle some on your face so you can be ready for this magical experience. Our gatehouse door is the portal to this kingdom. Use the map as a guide to discover more about the sprites that live in our gardens.
