The sailors, soldiers and artisans you will encounter at Roanoke Island Festival Park were members of the original 1585 military expedition to Roanoke Island! Meet them, ask questions, and learn about early life in the New World.

Witness the pageantry of Queen Elizabeth I and celebrate the birth of Virginia Dare, the first English child born in America. "The Lost Colony" is an Outer Banks tradition not to be missed!

An opossum found its way into this tight spot on the extreme end of the Jennette's Pier this weekend. A big shout out to Nags Head Police Department Animal Control Officer Jimmy Pierce who gently removed this opossum from the bitter end. After getting it into a pet travel case, he left to set it free in the woods nearby.
